Friday Fill Up: No Complaints
Do everything without complaining or arguing
What would your day look like if there were no complaints? What if you went all day without one single negative comment? Even when that driver gets on your last nerve....no complaints? What if your spouse, child, co-worker, or family member made no complaints? Would your day go smoother or have you given in to the culture of accepting complaints as a way of life?
Why do we complain? Is it because we want to be in control? Or perhaps we don't like the way something is done or said? Accepting things for what and how they are, opens us up to a new level of vulnerability. God tells us to be joyful and to be glad. I imagine it's a bit difficult to do those things when you are complaining. Because our words have power, we don't want to put that negativity in the atmosphere.
How about we change our thinking by renewing our minds. Let me suggest we change that complaint into a compliment. Let's begin to look at the glass half full, not half empty. When your spouse becomes irritated, the children work your nerves, or your co-worker throws you under the bus, adjust your language to that of compliments. Blooming Big looks like lots of compliments instead of complaints.
Are there things that you find yourself complaining about, or maybe some people in your life? Is there a particular situation that gets you tense?
Stop those verbal complaints. When you recognize you are about to say something negative about a person or situation, stop it dead in it’s tracks. Practice giving compliments to that person or situation before you have a change to complain.
Heavenly Father, I come to you asking for forgiveness for my complaints. Help me to see the good in people and situations. Give me an understanding spirit about what’s going on. And let me exercise grace in my interactions. I thank you for the opportunities to grow.
In Jesus Name,
