Ep. 11: Friday Fill Up: Honor
Romans 12:10
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor
I remember having a conversation with God a couple of years ago around the first of the year. In my head and heart, I was exploring ways that I could be a better me that year. And I'll never forget where I was and He told me what I needed to do. I needed to honor this certain individual in my life. THis person that I was not related to, didn’t even talk to, needed to be honored by me.
I knew that my prayers wouldn’t be answered and my business profits wouldn’t increase if I didn’t check my heart, check my pride and display honor.
See, honor isn’t just this churchy activity that we participate in on Sundays...giving honor to God. It’s how we treat our spouse. How we treat and talk to our children. How we treat the person on the side of the road begging for money. And it's how we treat ourselves.
Jam packing your schedule, not honor. Neglecting private time with God, not honor, a short or condescending tone with family members, not honor. Our frustrations while driving, not honor.Knowing the areas in our lives that need a tune up, now THAT is honor.
When we open our eyes and our hearts to seeing, knowing, and then DOING what’s right, God can take the lid off, he can move some things blocking us, and he can turn situations into something to celebrate.
Think About
Think of your biggest challenge you are facing today. How many areas of your life is this 1 issue impacting?
Action
Pray about that situation, and ask God to give you the game plan. And then, work the plan.
Pray
Heavenly Father, thank you for always having our best interest at heart. Thank you for always knowing exactly what we need to be who you have called us to be. Lord, please bless any person who is struggling with honor today. Give them the eyes to see how to change, the ears to hear Your voice , the desire in their hearts to honor you by honoring others. You are mighty in all you do and we pray these things in Jesus name.
